Abstract

This article examines the key aspects related to assortment management, quality management (QM) and total quality management (TQM), emphasizing the definition of these concepts and exploring their relationship to organizational performance. The review also identifies the components of TQM and examines how different sectors approach quality management. The existing perspectives of quality management are studied, referring to various international standards adopted by organizations, with a special emphasis on ISO 9000. Assortment policy is an important component of the company's marketing strategy and determines which products and services will be provided to consumers. It can affect many aspects of a business, including market position, profitability, image and consumer relations. Effective assortment policy management helps enterprises adapt to changes in the market, satisfy consumer needs and achieve their strategic goals. Numerous studies show the application and management of quality in organizations, revealing a variety of approaches. Some organizations measure quality using measures such as the number of defects, rework costs, recall costs, disposal costs, and other related costs. Conversely, the organization's alternative is to measure performance through factors such as learning initiatives, productivity, employee engagement, and leadership provided by management. Factors of total quality management (TQM) are defined and include: quality practices of senior management, management process, knowledge and competence of employees, orientation to the client and the needs of employees, their education. The implementation of assortment and quality management in trade enterprises in the context of applying the approaches of international standards should anticipate and take into account the specific features of goods. Attention should be paid to the implementation of expert evaluation of business processes as a means of improving the quality management system of enterprises in the field of trade. Because of the high competitiveness faced by companies, occupying the positions of world business leaders, they must develop strategies to improve their processes by implementing the certification of quality management systems according to the ISO 9000 standard. This document is based on a systematic analysis of the requirements of the ISO 9000 standard and globally recognized methodologies improvement of processes, such as lean production, business process reengineering, business process management. It is shown that the practical significance of the study of the problem of development, implementation and application of quality management systems is that it is necessary for general quality management and is considered a tool for ensuring the activity of any enterprise in an unstable environment and the basis of high competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets. Trade networks contribute to the improvement of the quality of goods and services, offering their customers the best products and providing a high level of service.
