KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY (KAM) ANALYSIS - SCHORTCOMINGS AND ADVANTAGES

Abstract

Abstrakt. In modern world constant changes are taken place, which are defined in many ways, for example, “third wave”, “new economy”, “network economy”, “knowledge-based economy” (KBE). We are involved in the transition process from industrial economy towards knowledge economy. Nowadays, the significance of intangible resources are dramatically increasing resulting in knowledge becoming one of the most essential elements, in particular, acquisition of knowledge, storage of knowledge as well as the use of knowledge. Knowledge and source of competitive advantage are certain to be equal in the sense of major development factor. The article considers the problem related to the development assessment of both information society and knowledge-based economy. For this purpose the most common assessment method Knowledge Assessment Methodology (KAM) is applied. This paper characterizes KAM method, highlights methodological problems within this issue. The consensus of this publication is to determine the benefits and drawbacks of KAM method.
